Zaek.cc ("Zaek", "we", "us") is a dating platform operated by Vladislav Zaiets, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
1. Data We Collect
When you create an account and use Zaek, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, password (hashed)
- Profile data: photos, bio, city, country, height, interests, relationship preferences, lifestyle details (smoking, drinking, religion, education)
- Questionnaire responses: answers to our onboarding questionnaire (up to 50+ questions for women, ~25 for men)
- Activity data: swipes, matches, messages sent and received within the app
- Verification data: selfie photo and identity document (used solely for identity verification)
- Device information: device type, OS version, app version (for push notifications and debugging)
- Location: city-level only, as entered by you. We do not track GPS location.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To create and maintain your account
- To show your profile to potential matches based on compatibility
- To enable messaging between matched users
- To verify your identity (manual review of selfie and document)
- To send push notifications about matches, messages, and account activity via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
- To enforce platform rules (anti-ghost system, ban enforcement)
- To process payments (for male members)
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored on a server located in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). Photos are stored directly on the server filesystem. All data transmission between the app and server is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
4. Third-Party Services
The Zaek mobile application does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service used is Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications — this transmits only your device token and notification content.
The Zaek landing page (zaek.cc website only, not the app) uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for visitor statistics. These do not apply to app users.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Period.
Your profile information (name, photos, bio, interests) is visible to other verified Zaek members as part of the matching process. Your messages are visible only to you and the person you are matched with.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all data is permanently removed:
- Profile data, photos, questionnaire responses
- All messages you sent and received
- All matches and swipe history
- Verification documents
- Payment records
Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access: View all data we hold about you (available in-app via Settings → Export Data)
- Rectification: Update or correct your profile data at any time
- Erasure: Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete Account)
- Data portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent: You can delete your account at any time, which withdraws all consent
- Restriction: You can request temporary restriction of processing by contacting us

8. Age Requirement
Zaek is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user is under 18, their account will be deleted immediately.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:
- Passwords are hashed using BCrypt (never stored in plain text)
- All API communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Access to the server is restricted to authorized personnel only
- Authentication tokens (JWT) are used for all API requests
10. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications about new matches, messages, and important account updates. You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
